Ultimately contemporary performance poetry tends to reveal its origins in the literate pop and folk music of the 1960s and sometimes has its strengths: directness, liveliness and musicality, with large dashes of humour thrown in. Masters of the performance art include Eric Beach, Komninos, Geoff Goodfellow, Ania Walwicz and Steven Herrick.
